What’s in a job?
Transcripts of my interviews of successful dog professionals and volunteers.
The project aims at giving the broad public a renewed respect for the qualities required to succeed as a dog professional, and a more precise idea about the day-to-day life of those people who have had the courage to dedicate their lives to dogs.
Past interviews
Breeder: Gilles Galand at the Chenil des Poteries
The first interview in the What’s in a job series is with Gilles Galand, reputed breeder of Anatolian shepherds and briards, published author on Anatolian shepherds, and founder/director of the very successful Elevage des Poteries. Mr. Galand tells us about the ups and downs of professional dog breeding.
Dog walker: Paula Welgraven at Woef Out
The second interview in the What’s in a job series is with Paula Welgraven, certified dog walker and successful founder of dog walking business Woef Out. Read on to find out more about life behind the scene for a professional dog walker.
Training school franchise: Gerda Doedee at Quiebus
The third interview in the What’s in a job series is with Gerda Doedee, a pioneer in gentle training methods in the Netherlands. Gerda is the director of Quiebus: one of the Netherlands’ most successful training schools and behaviour therapy franchises.
More interviews in the pipeline
The next interview will feature twin sisters Marilyn and Kathleen Jacobs , who have founded two of the longest running dog beauty salons in Belgium: ‘La Truffe’ and ‘Les P’tits Coussinets‘.
Another interview has also been secured, this time with Linda Case, renowned scientific writer on animal behaviour. Among her other publications, she wrote the classic: The Dog, its behavior, nutrition and health.
Do you want to be interviewed?
If you would like to step up and showcase your dog profession, please contact me so we can set up an interview.
I can interview in person for Belgium- and Netherlands-based professionals. I also interview through Skype the world over for professionals further afield.
So, whether you are a breeder, a shelter manager, a dog walker, a vet or any other dog professional, I want to hear from you! Let’s hear your professional views, achievements and challenges as you showcase your profession.
I also interview volunteers who are experienced in a dog-related field.
No money shall exchange hands for the interview process: the idea is that I gain interesting contents and you gain publicity for your causes and your business.
Please note that more than one professional can represent the same profession, so do get in touch even if your profession is already represented.
I am particularly keen to hear from professionals in the service dog industry.
