I would take any statement that states a course as ‘definitive’ with a pinch of salt, as I would the line ‘over 20 years experience’ (if I got a penny every time I heard it…). Tony, I am afraid this comment sounds very much like deliberate product placement, and this blog is not the place for it.

I would agree that you need to do your research on how to create the most baby-safe family if you have a dog, even if your dog is as placid as can be. So, always do your homework.

Dog training is definitely very important, but so is a good relation, no? It wont’ make a hyper dog calm, and an antagonistic dog into a pacifist, but it will make it manageable. Dog training can definitely help you reach the stage when you can walk with your dog offleash, and that’s one of the best experiences of dog ownership, in my experience. The question is: where to find decent dog training classes that won’t be stressful for you and your dog, and that won’t make your dog worse-behaved?

For sure, the lesson will take time, and has to fit with your schedule, and then you’ll need to practise outside (although 1 hour would be more for competition, I’d say, but definitely 3x 10 minutes daily is to be recommended).

Thank about your goals is a great one. You may want to compete, or just have a nice relaxing activity with your dog.

Excellent point about what type of dog you have. Great to ask the training school if they can accommodate for his limitations/likes/personality.
